It was something that could be easily verified before CES 2017, brands were keen to turn their equipment into gaming machines, regardless of their form factor: laptops, desktops, all in one, even mini-PCs, as the case that concerns us with MSI.

Well, talking about MSI is always expecting good specs, so no one is going to be surprised that this new Trident 3 is so well armed. Not missing the new Intel Kaby Lake processors, also an Nvidia GeForce GTX, and good amounts of memory.

Ok, no surprise here, we have already seen small teams designed to play with a heart attack specifications such as the Zotac Magnus more powerful than our protagonist. The proposal of MSI passes by proposing a powerful equipment in a space smaller than that of an Xbox One, with less than 3 kilos of weight.

A mini-computer with Intel Core i7

Very console-style, the design of the new MSI mini-PC allows it to be placed both vertically and horizontally – with additional support, always leaving the cooling outputs free. There is also a lack of color LEDs encouraging the design, something more in line with the PC world.

With this little bug we can play without problem in high resolution Full HD graphics, even ask for something more. The thing will change according to configurations, but we can say that the basic includes an Intel Core i5-7500 with Nvidia GTX 1050 (4GB) and 8GB of RAM, and that goes for about 900 dollars across the pond.

Despite its size this is a device that can be improved once bought: as the Trident 3 is mounted on an Intel H110 board, it can be uploaded to a processor like the Core i7-7700, put a better graphic as the GeForce GTX 1060, or expand up to 32GB of RAM.

The Trident 3 design allows it to be placed both vertically and horizontally.

Going to review the connectivity we have that this MSI Trident 3 has three USB 3.0 ports, a new Type-C, four USB 2.0, and a Gigabit Ethernet.

Video outputs seem to have four HDMI ports, a DisplayPort and a DVI: the idea is to be able to mount a virtual reality helmet and three monitors.
